Every Sword Tomb boss looks like a wall until you learn what they are actually weak to — not just “hit harder,” but which inner-power line counters their acupoint, which destruction art strips their protect-body, and which phase effect you must respect or ignore. This guide is a new-player-friendly weakness sheet for all nine tombs.

Scope note: every tomb can be cleared on Must-Die difficulty using seventh-rank manuals or lower. What follows highlights simple or cheese-adjacent routes — not the only way to win.

Demon-Warding Protection (before your first clear)

When you enter a Sword Tomb for the first time, the young monk beside Master Shishufu offers Demon-Warding Protection — a safety net against tomb avatars.

DetailWhat it means
OptionalYou can refuse. Refuse once and it is gone for that run.
While activeUntil your Purity reaches Wash Turbidity, dying to a tomb avatar (or an Invasion avatar) does not kill your character.
When it endsPurity hits Wash Turbidity — i.e. you are allowed to steal one purity point, or you steal two, or you clear any tomb.
On triggerFull recovery: wounds, poison, inner-breath disorder, and health reset.

Unofficial heal trick: worried about breakthrough injuries? Lose deliberately to a nearby tomb avatar, wait ten days, come back at full health. Crude, but it works.


General tomb combat notes

These apply across multiple bosses:

  1. Fast destruction arts bully protect-body AI. If your destruction skill casts quickly enough, many tombs stop trying to run protect-body in response. Companion command Urge Cast can bait the AI into thinking defense is not an option.
  2. Read tomb acupoints. Example: External Body Seeking Law — if the boss’s Power or Deflect is higher than yours, their hits deal +50% damage; if yours is higher, you deal +50% back. Each line is calculated separately. Other acupoints follow similar “B-zone” (non-homologous) logic.
  3. One protect-body slot. Most tombs run a single protect-body manual. Arts that strip, suppress, or reverse-strip protect-body are often worth more than raw damage.

What makes him hard

  • Extreme external bias — armor, Fortitude, and external mitigation are enormous; internal mitigation is very low.
  • Runs Evil Reverse Lifeless, among the fastest, cheapest charge body methods in the game. Do not expect to out-kite him at long range — charging into his “bathroom” gets you cut down in two swings.
  • Acupoint Vajra Sever Evil punishes Purple Haze builds and is punished by Pure Yang.
  • Threatening destruction: Three Slashes of Annihilation / Three Slashes of Renunciation — high frequency, scaling power. Answer with Beauty Thorn or Five Ghosts Porter Method.
  • Phase 2 — Suppressing Hell Submission: weapon basic attacks interrupt your casts. His weapon wind-up is slow; time destruction after his swing starts. Early on, Urge Cast from a companion helps you finish before he interrupts.

Weaknesses

  • Do not fight him external unless you massively out-stat him. Use balanced or slightly internal inner power. Pure Yang is ideal — B-zone bonus plus 55/50 internal-external split punishes his skew.
  • Avoid Extreme Yin early: weapon damage still matters, and his weapon armor break + Toughness will shred you through basic attacks while your external side is weak.
  • Weak to Precision / Deflect. Reverse Five Ghosts Step shifts hit profile to dodge his swings; Orthodox Five Ghosts Step helps gather Power forms.
  • Protect-body Invincible blocks heavy hits on any body part above six wound tiers. Concentrated destruction on one zone gets nullified. Reverse Shaolin Six Harmonies Staff strips the shell — low Power investment needed because he is weak Precision and Invincible does not add Deflect. Trade-off: he gains more Posture for destruction.

  • Complete poison immunity — poison-primary builds fail.
  • Balanced internal/external, slight internal lean; dodge armor + high Dodge — stack Swiftness hit.
  • Immortal-Descending body method — fastest, cheapest ultra-mobile charge step. Do not kite her.
  • Acupoint Eastern Qi Arrives punishes Return-to-Origin; punished by Vajra.
  • Threat: Inch-Heart Enter Dream / Inch-Heart Sever Dream — near-unavoidable with her mobility.
  • Phase 2 — Goddess Returns Sword: weapon basic-attack chase rate and damage spike. Counter-enjoyers beware.
  • Destruction targets hands — hand destruction disables part of her kit.

Weaknesses

  • Do not fight internal unless you out-stat her. Balanced or slightly external inner power — but pure Vajra Swiftness is too low unless you abandon Swiftness hit entirely.
  • Inch-Heart lines are weak to Precision; Mo Nü’s hit stats are skewed — Deflect her Precision and the control whiffs.
  • Divine Foot Passing hard-counters Inch-Heart; One Reed Crossing River stops footwork strips. Neither? Prepare to be spun like a top.
  • Protect-body: ideal is Five Yellow Poison-Warding (also cleanses poison, huge Deflect) — but it is a rare sixth-rank art. Substitute Orthodox Tendon-Shrinking Bone-Softening.
  • Phase 2 basics hurt — Muddy Technique or Raccoon Dart Art for early spacing; Reverse Golden Bell Cover for fast Flaw generation (Flaw caps still need follow-up damage).
  • Inch-Heart is 93% hands/feet — Orthodox Tendon-Shrinking almost always gives +20% resolve. The 7% head hits: wear a good helmet.
  • Weak Power / Deflect. Reverse Sinking Stone Leg shifts profile; Orthodox version gathers Swiftness forms.
  • Weapon Toughness is very low — high blade-armor Toughness plus Reverse Armor-Breaking True Steel Fourteen Techniques helps.
  • White Rainbow Sword and Beauty Thorn are gap closers — you must stick to her to damage.

  • Strongest control kit in the tomb roster — prefer low Posture-cost lines: draw-sword, legs, seal-break.
  • Acupoint Nine Yin Corrodes Dark punishes Pure Yang; punished by Return-to-Origin.
  • Phase 2 — Strange Cold Spirit: reduces your Posture gain inside her attack range.

Weaknesses

  • Return-to-Origin counters her start to finish — Yuanshan draw-sword and leg lines with external damage are excellent.
  • Mire-Rushing and Divine Foot Passing answer movement slow.
  • Green God Leisure Dance / Green God Wild Dance — counter with Orthodox Heaven Gate Pass.
  • Avoid high-setup, high-cost destruction chains.
  • Hit/resolve slightly Swiftness-heavy — Five Ghosts Step or Sinking Stone Leg for forms or mitigation.
  • At melee, her weapon’s Grab form is Precision; Return-to-Origin is weak Deflect — stay close so she struggles to gather forms for destruction.
  • Protect-body Frost Embryo Ice Soul is oppressive control — keep New Pavilion Lord Blade as a strip option even if unused.
  • Damage output is modest — fix movement and Posture first.

  • Acupoint True Fire Beyond Heaven punishes Vajra; punished by Extreme Yin.
  • Phase 2 — Seven Patterns Five Colors: constant Qi gain; when any Qi pool exceeds twice yours, immune to direct damage. Qi cannot exceed triple starting value — you can raise one pool above her 1.5× threshold to avoid immunity while she still snowballs Qi (fight gets harder).

Weaknesses

  • Kill fast before phase 2 full-Qi form. Bank Posture, forms, and weapon-swap cooldown before the transition.
  • Golden Bell Cover pressures HP — but Six Forms blocks Flaw. Use when body method is down and you have Return Joy Support / Praise the World stacks.
  • Return Joy / Praise the World boost basics and recovery — pair Reverse Armor-Breaking True Steel Fourteen Techniques with Orthodox Muddy Technique to cut weapon damage.
  • Fire Roast Eight Winds / Phoenix Guides Nine Chicks — Reverse Heaven Gate Pass.
  • Crimson Feather Break Sky / Gold Feather Break Sky — Orthodox Thousand-Jin Drop (not ideal; mostly anti-kite).
  • Nine Buds heals destroyed parts on cast end, not heavy wounds — head-lock arts help.
  • Hit/resolve balanced; Precision slightly weak — Five Ghosts Step.
  • Deflect armor plus high Power hit — stack Power for accuracy.

  • Extreme external skew — very weak internal. Community nickname: “Little Brother Xue.”
  • Acupoint Divine Earth Subdues Evil punishes Extreme Yin; punished by Purple Haze.
  • Strong destruction, medium mobility. Soldier Lord Six Harmonies and Fierce Soldier Break Three Arrays move during casts — kiting is harder than his speed suggests.
  • Phase 2 — Eight Arms Eight Toes: −60% homologous damage taken, +120% homologous damage dealt. Pure stat monster.

Weaknesses

  • Cannot reach 2.0–2.5 comfortably — hug melee, paired daggers, Orthodox White Rainbow Sword, keep Reverse Mire-Rushing up to suppress Blood Floats Across the Ford speed buff.
  • Watch Kill Without Mercy and Blood Rain Bathes Eight Desolations — the former can instant-kill.
  • Counter his amp: Heaven-Forged Dark Iron Register. Counter his mitigation: Shaolin Vajra Palm, Green Flood Blood, Miscellaneous Agama Sutra (reskins per inner-power line).
  • Protect-body Maple God Summons Life converts wounds to old wounds — not heavy wounds. Head/body-lock arts work.
  • Do not bring old-wound generators “to help” — some players tried; it backfires.
  • Very weak Swiftness and Mind-Move — Snap Kick Shrinking Earth for forms or mitigation.

  • Cannot reach 2.0–2.5melee. Long-duration body methods (Thousand-Li Lone Walk, Drunk Eight Immortals Step) help.
  • Defense / attrition specialist — Cold, Gloomy, Illusion poison lines work.
  • Life-Renouncing Style at high stacks hurts — watch stack count; pull range to force weapon swap if needed.

  • Phase 2 — Nation-Toppling Absolute Beauty: if her available forms exceed yours, divine-power direct damage becomes ×3 and cannot be reflected.
  • Does not amplify mind damage — Broken Fox Lament is safe at range.
  • Divine Flame Blood Fire hitting four zones under Nation-Toppling can reach ×12 — instant death. Reflected hits also scale by destroyed parts — Seven Origins Calamity-Dispelling Great Law counters hard, but Nation-Toppling blocks reflect on divine power. Living through it is still your problem.

Weaknesses

  • Below 50% Qi Raise or while casting destruction — she often cannot protect-body in time.
  • Divine Flame Blood Fire needs full power — stack Dodge so it fails to reach ten-tenths.
  • Nation-Toppling needs form advantage — Mind Without Fixed Intent, Thirty-Six Sealing Hands counter well.
  • Body method Memory Flying Smoke uses head — head destruction works.
  • At range, Broken Fox Lament and mind lines avoid the ×3 divine-power trap — but watch four-zone Blood Fire.
